Senior Compliance Officer – Compliance & AML

An international commercial bank is looking to hire a Senior Compliance Officer to join the Compliance and Money Laundering Prevention team at its London branch. The role reports directly to the Head of Compliance and MLRO and deputises for them in their absence.

The role is based in the London office 5 days a week

Job Requirements

• Deputise for the Head of Compliance and MLRO, covering their full responsibilities during periods of absence
• Creating or undertaking reviews of policies, procedures, guidance or the documents for which the department is responsible and ensuring they comply with the latest regulatory developments and market practice
• Assist the Head of Compliance/MLRO in delivering an effective, high quality, risk-based compliance oversight and monitoring programme
• Carry out second-line CDD reviews and assist with investigating unusual transactions, reporting suspicious activity to the MLRO
• Draft, review and maintain compliance and AML policies and procedures, and deliver training including mandatory induction
• Support the risk-based monitoring programme and assist with FCA and PRA regulatory reporting and requests
• Own the branch’s GDPR and Data Protection arrangements and keep Companies House records up to date
• Bring solid UK compliance and AML experience within banking, strong policy-writing skills and the confidence to deputise for the MLRO
• Solid understanding of corporate and syndicated lending, with experience applying CDD and financial crime controls to lending counterparties and loan participations
• Experience in the compliance and AML function of a UK bank or branch of an overseas bank, with a working knowledge of the MLRs, JMLSG guidance and FCA and PRA expectations
